Reimbursements — FBA recovery

Amazon lost your inventory. Then it graded its own homework.

When a fulfillment center loses or damages your units, Amazon decides whether to reimburse you, and how much — and since 2024, you have just 60 days to catch what its automation missed. The Reimbursement Finder sweeps your Inventory Ledger, refunds, and payout history every week and hands you ready-to-file case text for every dollar it can't account for.

10% success fee, only on what you actually recover — about half the industry rate. Included with every OptimalCentral plan.

What it finds

Three places FBA money leaks — checked weekly.

Everything Amazon already reimbursed (including its automatic payouts) is subtracted first. What's left is exactly what the automation missed.

01

Lost & damaged, never paid

Inventory Ledger adjustments show units lost or damaged in Amazon's fulfillment centers. We net out later "found" corrections and every payout in your Reimbursements report. Whatever remains has a 60-day filing clock on it.

02

Refunded, never returned

A customer gets a refund, the item never comes back to your inventory, and no reimbursement follows. Claims open 60 days after the refund and close at 120 — the sweep tracks each window and tells you the moment a claim becomes fileable.

03

Payouts below your cost

Since March 2025, Amazon reimburses at its estimate of your sourcing cost. We compare each payout against the cost you've recorded and flag the low ones, so you know when it's worth submitting your documentation.

04

Wrong size tier

Amazon measures your products itself and remeasures them without telling you — one bad scan can bump a SKU into a bigger size tier and raise every order's fulfillment fee. Enter your real dimensions once; every weekly sweep compares them against Amazon's record and hands you the re-measurement case when they disagree, with the fee overcharge annualized.

How it works

The sweep detects. You file. The ledger settles it.

1

Weekly sweep

Every Monday (or on demand) we pull four reports from your connected Amazon account and rebuild the claim list. New candidates and closing windows land in your Monday alert email.

2

Copy, paste, file

Each claim carries case text with the dates, SKUs, quantities, and ledger evidence Amazon asks for. Open a Seller Central case, paste, submit. Under a minute. We never file on your behalf — your account, your action.

3

Recovery tracked, fee earned

When a payout lands that matches a claim you filed, the recovery ledger records it and accrues our 10%. You see the same ledger we do, and fees arrive as a monthly invoice — never an automatic charge.

FAQ

Fair questions, straight answers.

What does the Reimbursement Finder detect? +

Two kinds of money: inventory reported lost or damaged in Amazon's fulfillment centers with no matching reimbursement (net of items later found), and orders Amazon refunded where the item never came back within 60 days and no reimbursement was issued. It also cross-checks payouts you did receive against the product cost you recorded, and flags the ones that look low.

Why does the 60-day window matter? +

Since October 2024, fulfillment-center claims must be filed within 60 days of the item being reported lost or damaged, and customer-return claims between 60 and 120 days after the refund. Miss the window and the money is gone for good. That's why this runs as an automatic weekly sweep, not a once-a-year audit.

Doesn't Amazon reimburse automatically? +

Often, yes — and everything Amazon already paid is subtracted before anything reaches your claim list. What remains is exactly the set of losses the automation missed. Those are yours to claim, and the clock is running.

Do you file claims for me? +

No — filing is always your action, by design. We generate ready-to-paste case text with the event dates, SKUs, quantities, and ledger evidence. You paste it into a Seller Central case. We never take write actions on your Amazon account.

How does the 10% fee work? +

You pay 10% of what you actually recover — about half the 20–25% typical of dedicated reimbursement services — and nothing otherwise. A payout only counts when it matches a claim you filed from your Optimal claim list. You see the same recovery ledger we do, and fees are billed as a monthly invoice, never auto-charged. Full terms are in our Terms of Service.

What about FBA fee overcharges from wrong size tiers? +

That's the fee audit, included in the same sweep. Amazon assigns each product a size tier from its own measurements and remeasures without notice; a wrong tier silently raises the fulfillment fee on every order. Enter your real dimensions once and we re-check every week — internal contradictions in Amazon's own numbers are flagged even before you enter anything. When a tier looks wrong you get ready-to-paste re-measurement case text; a successful dispute restores the correct tier and refunds recent overcharges, which flow through the same recovery ledger.

What do I need to connect? +

Your Amazon Seller account, once, through the official Selling Partner authorization on the Connections page. The sweep reads reports only — it makes no changes to your account.
